About Arjan Bhullar

Former ONE Heavyweight World Champion Arjan “Singh” Bhullar has been a professional athlete for nearly his entire life.

Bhullar grew up wrestling, first learning the Indian Kushti style from his father, and later moved into freestyle, going on to excel in the sport at every level. In addition to multiple provincial and national titles, he was a two-time champion while attending university, a gold medalist at the Commonwealth Games, and he also represented Canada at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London.

Immediately following his Olympic bid, Bhullar shifted his gaze to mixed martial arts and began preparing for his professional debut, which was always his longtime personal goal. He won his first six professional bouts with several TKOs to get his career off to a perfect start, and in just his third match, he captured a local Canadian heavyweight title.

“Singh” unsurprisingly caught the eye of several major promotions, and after a short stint competing in North America, he finally joined ONE Championship in 2019.

Bhullar’s greatest achievement, however, came in May 2021. There, he defeated longtime divisional king Brandon Vera to capture the ONE Heavyweight MMA World Title. In the process, he also became India’s first MMA World Champion.

His run at the top of the heavyweight division came to a halt at ONE Friday Fights 22 in 2023, however, at the hands of rampaging Russian and current heavyweight MMA king Anatoly Malykhin.

Bhullar now begins his road to redemption when he faces Amir Aliakbari in a titanic battle of heavyweight contenders at ONE 166: Qatar on Friday, March 1.
