Adrian Lee Returns Against Colorado’s Own Nicholas Cornejo At ONE 168: Denver On September 6
Fresh off his spectacular professional MMA debut last month, Adrian “The Phenom” Lee will soon return to action at one of the biggest events of the year.
The 18-year-old rising star is scheduled to square off against undefeated Colorado scrapper Nicholas “The Steel City Kid” Cornejo in a can’t-miss lightweight MMA tilt at ONE 168: Denver, which goes down live in U.S. primetime at Ball Arena on Friday, September 6.
The younger brother to reigning two-division ONE World Champion Christian Lee, former atomweight MMA queen Angela Lee, and the late Victoria Lee, “The Phenom” comes from a family of MMA royalty.
Given his family background, coupled with his numerous Pankration World Championships, Hawaii High School State Wrestling Title, and flawless amateur MMA career, Lee joined the world’s largest martial arts organization with plenty of hype surrounding him.
The teenager lived up to that hype in a big way at ONE 167 this past June, where he dismantled Italian standout Antonio Mammarella en route to a second-round submission win.
Now, Lee looks to continue his climb up the ranks when he takes on the hard-hitting local favorite.
Cornejo, known as “The Steel City Kid,” is a talented wrestler and grappler. However, he tends to do his best work when throwing strikes, and the Pueblo native has scored back-to-back knockouts to kick off his own professional career.
For Cornejo, a victory over Lee at ONE 168 could establish him as the next big thing in ONE Championship and set him up for more high-profile opportunities in the future. As for “The Phenom,” he hopes to continue building upon his momentum, gain valuable experience inside the Circle, and take one more step on his journey to the top of the MMA world.
