Tye Ruotolo Welcomes Jozef Chen To ONE In Clash Of BJJ Phenoms At ONE Fight Night 23

A submission grappling clash between two of the planet’s most exciting young competitors is officially set for ONE Fight Night 23 on Prime Video

Reigning ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion Tye Ruotolo will face debuting teenage sensation Jozef Chen in a 186-pound catchweight battle live in U.S. primetime on Friday, July 5.

Ruotolo needs no introduction to the global fan base.

With a perfect 6-0 slate in ONE that includes submission wins over the likes of Garry Tonon, Izaak Michell, and Dagi Arslanaliev, the American superstar has consistently delivered on the global stage.

Ruotolo also made history outside of the world’s largest martial arts organization, debuting as the youngest-ever participant in ADCC as a 16-year-old in 2019 before becoming the youngest IBJJF World Champion in 2022.

Still just 21, the Atos representative has a long career ahead of him and appears set to go down as an all-time great.

However, he’ll meet another phenom in Chen, who has already made a big name for himself on the submission grappling circuit despite being 19 years old.

The B Team Jiu Jitsu athlete only took up the sport at 14, but his dedication and work ethic have fueled a meteoric rise to the top.

Chen won six matches in one day – including a victory over former ONE World Title challenger Tommy Langaker – to win the ADCC European Trials in 2023. Now, he’ll have a chance to showcase his skills on the biggest platform of all.

Along with their incredible resumes, the grappling styles of Ruotolo and Chen should make their battle one to watch.

Both men are high-octane and well-rounded competitors who constantly push the pace in entertaining matchups.

Although it’s a non-title catchweight contest, the outcome will have major implications for the welterweight submission grappling division moving forward, so there’s a lot at stake for the reigning king and his highly touted foe.
