‘We Can Do It Two Or Three More Times. I’ll Win’ – Xiong Jing Nan Thinks She Has Angela Lee’s Number

Xiong Jing Nan is confident that she was the deserving winner in her World Title trilogy clash with Angela Lee this past Friday, September 30.

The ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion defended her gold for a record seventh time at ONE on Prime Video 2, earning a hard-fought decision over the atomweight queen after coming close to a finish in the opening round.

Speaking post-fight, Lee insisted she had done enough to win despite the early scare, but the judges were unanimous in their verdict for “The Panda.”

And her part, Xiong has no doubt that she earned it.

She said:

“You can see that I raised my hand way before they announced the results. I don’t care if people have a different opinion on whoever won the fight. I am dedicating this fight to the people who love me and support me.

“If [Angela Lee] doesn’t understand [the decision], that’s her problem. I think that the judges have bright eyes. We can do it two or three more times. I will win all those fights in the future.”

While Xiong’s heavy striking was enough for her to retain the belt and go 2-1 in the head-to-head series with “Unstoppable,” she still wasn’t satisfied with the performance.

In fact, “The Panda” was quick to credit Lee’s improvements – which led to a closely contested match – and will continue to take lessons from their epic rivalry moving forward.

The Chinese superstar said:

“I’m actually not pleased. I was looking for a KO but I didn’t get it. I could have gotten a finish. But it’s great to fight this new version of Angela. It’s the best way to show that I’ve also reached a new level.

“I think she executed a great game plan. She has a great team and a great family who can support her with the best techniques in the world. I learned a lot.”

Xiong Jing Nan Wants Another Shot At Atomweight Gold

During her four-year, eight-fight stranglehold on the women’s strawweight division, Xiong Jing Nan has proven that she’s unequivocally the best in the world.

At this point, “The Panda” doesn’t see any opponents in the weight class who would stand a chance to dethrone her.

And with that in mind, she thinks new contenders should earn their chance to challenge for the World Title.

Xiong said:

“It might sound cocky, but I’ll keep this belt for a long time. Even though there may be dangerous fighters that have signed with ONE, they are not even close to my level.

“It’s these fighters’ jobs to earn the opportunity to fight me. That would be fair for me and all the women on the roster. Let the promotion decide who’s next. The only thing I care about is getting better and facing tougher opponents in the future.”

While she doesn’t see any current deserving contenders at strawweight, Xiong does have one big goal in mind.

Her sole defeat in ONE Championship came when she dropped down to challenge for Angela Lee’s ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title in 2019, and she hopes to become a double-champ in a fourth showdown with “Unstoppable.”

“The Panda” added:

“I’ve been thinking about that for a long time. This time, she came into my territory, and guess what? Next time, I’m coming to her weight class.”
